When Shoestring star Trevor Eve decided to leave that series and go back into the theatre, Robert Banks-Stewart, the writer of the series, had plenty of un-produced ideas remaining for the series. Not wanting to let them go to waste, he developed Bergerac, basically the same premise with different people in a different location. Bergerac duly ran for ten seasons, as well as a handful of feature length Christmas specials. John Nettles starred as recovering alcoholic Sergeant Jim Bergerac, a cop dealing with millionaire tax exiles and tourists in the tax haven island of Jersey. Jokingly dubbed Jersey Five-0, the series reportedly boosted the tourist trade on the island ten fold. It also featured traditionally skingy French actress Therese Liotard, who we tracked down showing her cooch in a scene of Viens chez moi, j’habite chez une copine. Zing!
