Los Desarraigados (1976) is a down-beat tale of a Mexican family trying to make it North of the border that is rife with tragedy. The father of the family is homesick and lonely, one son battles alcoholism while the other deals drugs, and the daughter (Leticia Pinto) pursues a relationship with an Anglo man who abandons her in the end. There’s no happy ending in sight, but at least there's plenty of Leticia's pinto beans in full view!
