Shut Up & Sing (2006) is a documentary about the controversial singing group, the Dixie Chicks. They weren’t always a source of controversy, but then singer Natalie Maines made an anti-George W. Bush statement at a 2003 concert that became the big story for several news cycles. You know, they say Washington, D.C., is like Hollywood for ugly people. The Dixie Chicks win the debate in our humble opinion because unlike the politicians who criticized them, they’re hot. Remember that infamous Rolling Stone magazine cover where Natalie and her bandmates, Emily Robison and Martie Maguireposed nude with various derogatory and anti-American remarks over their skin? Well, that photo shoot is filmed here, only all the naughty bits are covered. Now that’s controversial.
