Don’t let the blonde hair and blue eyes fool you - Emilia is the daughter Margarita De Antuñano, a Mexican teacher of Spanish who also who also served as Director of the Canada-Mexico Cultural Exchange Centre. She grew up with her mom and dad Barry McCarthy in Ontario and was confident by age seven that she was going to be an actress. The very next year she got her first gig as a double for Elle Fanning in the 2006 drama Babel. While training at Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto, Emilia started working in film and television, appearing in works like Hemlock Grove (2013), Bunks (2013), the remake of Zapped! (2014), Maps to the Stars (2014) and Max & Shred (2014-2016), though she’s probably most recognized as Lacey in the Disney musical Zombies (2018) and its sequels. In 2022, Emilia joined the cast of the Paramount+ original medical drama SkyMed, and in the show’s third season, she and the rest of the pilots and nurses don some bikinis for a cookout/paint fight with water guns.
