Azure-eyed Catalan cutie Núria Espert is primarily known as an award-winning, well-respected theater actress, both in her native Spain and elsewhere in Europe. And boy howdy, would audiences like to get their stagehands on her! She first took the stage at the tender age of twelve when she joined the Children’s Company at Teatro Romea in Barcelona. After playing the plum role of Juliet at sixteen, she stepped in as the titular character of Medea after the lead actress fell ill. Around the same time, she started picking up parts on the Spanish silver screen, but it wasn’t until 1971 that this one-time understudy doffed her underclothes on camera. In the morbid, artsy epic Viva la muerte (1970), Núria ponied up some much-needed eye candy of the barest variety to ease the brutal imagery throughout.
