Audiences got their first look at Ricki Lake as a chubby teen with two-tone hair in her breakout role, Tracy Turnblad in John Waters' Hairspray (1988). But then she grew up, lost the Aqua Net and baby fat, and emerged a perky -- in every way! -- girl next door. Born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Ricki attended Ithaca College for a year before diving full-force into the entertainment biz. Audiences could dive into lovely Lake every day from 1993 to 2004 as they got their fill of dysfunctional relationships and out-of-control teens on her titular talk show. Since the show’s cancellation, she has not been a stranger to movies or TV, and of special note is the indie comedy Park (2006). It’s guaranteed to turn every fan of Ricki’s sticki, but for an extra special t(r)eat, check her out in the documentary The Business of Being Born (2007), which explores the modern childbirth industry in the United States. And there's no business like Ricki's business as she gives birth to her second child in a tub, making her private business public...and pubic! Some of her other recent credits include a whole host of reality series, including Dancing With the Stars (2011), Celebrity Juice (2017), Drop the Mic (2018), The Masked Singer (2019), and The X Factor: Celebrity (2019). She has also appeared in fictional fare like the mystery thriller Gemini (2017) and the musical comedy series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2016). Her talk show even came back for another whirl from 2012 to 2013. We hope her naughty bits come back for another round, too!
