No, Rosalind Cash isn’t the daughter of “the man in black” Johnny Cash. She’s a black sister who was a singer (The Skin I’m In), voice artist (Sesame Street) and actress (This Is the Life). After graduating with honors from Atlantic City High School, the brainy beauty attended City College of New York where she got into the entertainment industry. The ebony ingénue was soon cast in King Lear at the New York Shakespeare Festival with James Earl Jones in the titular part. Next, Ms. Cash cashed in on prestige flicks, from Klute (1971) featuring Jane Fonda’s first Oscar-winning turn to the crime comedy Uptown Saturday Night (1974) alongside Sidney Poitier. During the 1970s and ’80s, the pretty performer popped up on plenty of hit shows (including Good Times, Kojak, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Benson, Police Woman, The Golden Girls, and L.A. Law). The boob tube babe eventually played Mary Mae Ward on ABC’s long-running daytime series General Hospital from 1994 until her death in 1995. In 1996, she was posthumously nominated for an Emmy Award for this stint. Yet her best chances of nabbing one of our Anatomy Awards was in the science fiction classic The Omega Man (1971). The post-apocalyptic action movie starred Charlton Heston of The Ten Commandments (1956) fame. But the real scene stealers were Rosalind’s naked T&A! If that’s not erotic enough, the film features one of skinema’s first interracial kisses. Supposedly Rosalind said, “It’s a spooky feeling to screw Moses.” Can we get an Amen?!
