Born in Moscow to an engineer and an English teacher, this Russian doll studied at the traditional school of Russian psychological theatre at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) and then was made a member of the Moscow Art Theatre. She also made her film debut shortly after graduating in the comedy Uchitelnitsa pervaya moya (1997).
