Quirky loner Vanya (Vadik Korolyov) lives in his grandmother’s old apartment where he spends his time listening to vinyl records and writing a fairy tale (which he inexplicably stores in the freezer) when not working at a store for hunters and fishermen. He has little to no contact with young women other than a coworker named Kolyan (Daria Konyzheva) until he pays a visit to the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, and sees Kristina (Liza Yankovskaya) dancing the lead role of Giselle. He visits the backstage entrance, bringing her cornflowers, and somehow winning her over with his odd mannerisms. But Kristina has issues of her own, including an affair with an older married man, that may keep the duo from finding true love with each other. It is with Vanya that she seems the most vulnerable though, or at least where she bares the most skin.
