Around the time that Marylin Monroe was becoming a household name, she made the musical comedy Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) with Jane Russell. The pair play Lorelei and Dorothy. They’re two lounge singers on a cruise, just looking to work their way to Paris and entertain all the eligible men on the boat along the way. The movie was adapted from the Broadway play, which was in turn adapted from a novel. Many famous songs, including “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” come from this flick. This movie comes from an age when nudity was a little bit of a no-no, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty of gyrating and cleavage revealing to make your head spin from both bombshells. The two of them do plenty of dance numbers to inspire your full attention. Gentlemen may prefer blondes, but which of these two do you prefer?
