A true crime-inspired period drama set in 1955 Santiago, Chile, where bestselling author María Carolina Geel (Francesca Lewin) is arrested for shooting her lover in the Hotel Crillón. The incident captivates the public, especially because of the eerie similarities between this murder case and one in 1941 involving surrealist poet María Bombal in the exact same hotel. But the real focus of this series is on Mercedes (Elisa Zulueta), a fictional secretary to the judge assigned to defend Geel. She lives a quiet, almost passionless life with her husband Efrain (Pablo Macaya), a photographer, and their two teen sons, but she becomes obsessed with the glamorous Geel, even using the defendant’s confiscated apartment keys to break into her apartment and wear Geel’s clothes while she’s being held on remand in a convent. The snapshots we see of Mercedes’s life may be a lot less plush, but the peeks we get of Elisa’s soaped-up sucklers in the bathtub with have you rub-a-dub-dubbing one out!
