First-time writer/director Laura Piani spins a story of Agathe Robinson (Camille Rutherford), a shy aspiring writer who owns the Shakespeare and Company bookshop in France with her best friend Felix (Pablo Pauly). Her favorite author and writing inspiration is Jane Austen, so when she gets the chance to attend a two-week residency program with the Jane Austen Society, he encourages her to go and the two share a goodbye kiss that reveals there are more serious feelings hiding underneath their friendship. When Agathe arrives in England, she meets a distant relative of Austen’s named Oliver (Charlie Anson) who she becomes more and more attracted to, which complicates things when Felix shows up out of the blue. But before you think this is some buttoned-up, tense romance where nothing remotely salacious happens, think again, because while we never see Elizabeth Bennett’s boobs, we absolutely see Agathe’s. At one point, Camille strips down and walks into a room, inadvertently giving Charlie (and us) a front row seat to her knockout knockers.
