In this Norwegian drama series from Netflix, Thea Sofie Loch Næss is Maria Ekdal, a young scientific researcher looking into mysterious cracks in the mountain caves among the Canary Islands in Spain. The most northwesterly island is La Palma, where a family comprised of couple Fredrik (Anders Baasmo) and Jennifer (Ingrid Bolso Berdal) and their children, Sara (Alma Günther) and Tobias (Bernard Storm Lager) are on vacation for the holidays but seem to have brought all their personal issues with them. When Maria figures out that a volcano on La Palma is about to erupt and cause a devastating tsunami, she’s tasked with helping the family and everyone else just trying to relax on the beach in their desperate attempt to get off the island in one piece.
