In La Rupture (1970), Helene Regnier is married to mentally ill Charles. When Charles flies off in a rage, he comes close to killing their only son, Michel, who must be hospitalized. Charles returns to his wealthy parents’ house, where all begin to plot to ruin the life of Helene, whom they now suspect wants money. Complexity piles on complexity in this melodramatic and ruthless take on family and mental illness. Catherine Rouvel prances around naked for most of the movie, showing off an awesome set of love apples and a dandy derriere.
