Based on true events, Los Frikis (2024) tells the story of a group of Cuban twenty-somethings who, thanks to the country's economic collapse that coincided with the fall of the Soviet Union, decide to take extreme measures to survive. Maria (Adria Arjona), Paco (Héctor Medina), and several of their friends form a punk rock group and decide to intentionally infect themselves with HIV so that they can be taken care of at a government-run facility. In these extreme circumstances, rather than finding death around every corner, they instead find hope and life!
