This French-Belgian collab tells the story of artist Niki de Saint Phalle (Charlotte Le Bon), from the time where she was a young aristocratic mother modeling in 1950s Paris to her career as a sculptor of papier-mâché and polyester depictions of women and a painter who attached bags of paint and spray cans on canvases and shot at them with an air rifle at them until they burst. The film's got flashbacks of her traumatic and abusive upbringing sprinkled in for good measure, showing exactly what fuels her ever-growing anxiety. Her penchant for hiding knives in the mattress she shares with husband Harry Matthews (John Robinson) gets her a ticket to a psychiatric hospital, but it’s the sight of Charlotte in lacy white lingerie and poking nips that’ll drive audiences crazy! This darling Nikki will make you want to grind, grind grind!
