Funny!” That’s the (very appropriate) tagline of Oskar Röhler’s psychological drama Silvester Countdown (1997), which centers on the ill-fated liaison between Romeo (Rolf Peter Kahl) and Julia (Marie Zielcke). They are a young and trendy Berlin couple that is only kept together by their appreciation for kinky sex. This includes leather outfits, outdoor sex, Julia dancing in a strip club, and, of course, the occasional hand job. A trip to Warsaw proves to be the turning point for their relationship. One way or the other.
