Legendary Japanese extreme cinema pioneer Takashi Miike directed Sukiyaki Western Django (2007), a remake of Sergio Leone’s classic spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars (1964), which is itself a remake of the Akira Kurosawa samurai movie Yojimbo (1961). The plot centers on a nameless gunman (Hideaki Ito) who enters a conflict between two warring clans on the side of whichever one is willing to give him a bigger share of the treasure they both seek.
