Ukranian horsemen and Polish soldiers duke it out on the steppes in Taras Bulba, aka The Conqueror (2009). In this ultra-patriotic, lavishly detailed Russian production, Taras Bulba (Bogdan Stupka) is a Cossack warrior whose lands are under attack by invading Poles in 16th century Ukraine. Proud and defiant until the end, Taras rallies the horsemen of the region to defeat the kielbasa-eating onslaught in bloody open warfare.
