Loosely based on Georges Berr and Louis Verneuil’s 1934 play Mon crime, this period comedy tells the story of Madeleine Verdier (Nadia Tereszkiewicz), a struggling actress in living in 1935 with her equally struggling lawyer roommate Pauline (Rebecca Marder). After turning down a ride on a casting couch from a very handsy movie producer named Montferrand (Jean-Christophe Bouvet), Madeleine finds herself the prime suspect when Montferrand turns up murdered. With her bestie Pauline representing her, the two ladies decide to milk the notorious crime for all its worth, facing off with the unwitting detectives and lawyers desperate to take them down as they turn the trial into a pair of career-making breakthrough performances.
