It’s 1977, and Marcelo (Wagner Moura) is a widowed ex-tech researcher returning to Recife, the state capital of Pernambuco, Brazil. He had left after his opposing politics caught the attention of the current military dictatorship but now he’s back hoping to reconnect with his young son, Fernando (Enzo Nunes) who is living with his former in-laws. He gets a job at the state identification archives and is able to stay under the roof of Dona Sebastiana (Tânia Maria). But soon Marcelo realizes he’s got two hitmen on his tail, Agusto (Roney Villela) and his young partner Bobbi (Gabriel Leone). Speaking of tail, Marcelo gets some from Dona Sebastiana’s hot neighbor Claudia, played by Hermila Guedes.
