Steeped in Ukrainian folklore, this fantasy horror follows Olena (Tetiana Malkova), a former witch who gave up all her powers to fall in love with a mortal named Andriy (Taras Tsymbaliuk). One day after leaving work in her town of Konotop, Olena’s Aunt Yevdokia (Olena Khokhlatkina) warns her that death is coming for Andriy. Cue the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So Olena, Andriy, and their adorable French bulldog Ozzie go on the run, but they’re found by Russian troops and Andriy is shot and killed when he stands up to the handsy soldiers. Olena makes it back to her aunt and is able to restore her witchy dark magic and exact some slow, bloody revenge on the rape-y Russians.
