Born in Siena, Tuscany, while her brother Alessandro Nannini became a Formula One racer driver, Gianna Nannini wanted to pursue music and eventually left for Milan in the 1970s to study piano and composition. After scoring her first hit with the single “America” in 1979, the singer-songwriter found international fame in 1984 with her sixth album Puzzle and its popular single “Fotoromanza.” She continued releasing music well into the 21st century and in 2024, a biopic based on Gianna’s autobiography was made starring Letizia Toni. One of the highlights of the film is a brief bit of archival concert footage where the real Gianna flashes a tit to her adoring fans. We’ve never said “arrivederci” to our pants so fast!
