There was a time in the 1980’s and 1990’s when Romania ruled the Olympic gymnastics world. Lavinia Milosovici was one of the gymnasts that help them carry out that domination. Lavinia was born into an athletic family. Her father was on the national wrestling team and her mother was a competitive volleyball player and practiced martial arts. At the age of the 10, she contracted scarlet fever which was so severe it nearly ended her gymnastics career just as it was getting started.
