When you think of the hot Playboy models of years gone by, Patti McGuire is one of the first who comes to mind. And even if you don’t know her name, you’ll probably recognize her face or body in some capacity. A Homecoming queen who grew up in Missouri and studied history at Southern Illinois University, she entered the world of Playboy when she worked as a Bunny in the St. Louis Playboy Club. Popular and pretty, she also began appearing in television and print ads for the clubs, and eventually made her way into the actual magazine, in a pictorial that named her Playmate of the Month in November 1976. Patti was dubbed Playmate of the Year in 1977, and was presented her official award by rocker Alice Cooper. This wouldn’t be her only brush with a famous dude, though—she wound up married to tennis player Jimmy Connors in 1979, and is still with him. Not only was Patti immortalized on the pages of the iconic men’s mag, but also on the back glass of the famous Playboy pinball machine, standing next to Hugh. Unlike some other Playboy Playmates, Patti never tried to turn her centerfold into an acting career, but she did appear as the character Pussycat on a 1977 episode of Starsky and Hutch.
