Born on October 20th, 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, Roberta spent her youth acting in local theatre groups before being casted in the critically acclaimed City of God (2002) which gained her much notoriety in her native country. She is also a member of the Brazilian hip-hop group Melanina Carioca.
