Rooster (2026)

Greg Russo (Steve Carell) is a successful writer of “beach reads,” specifically a series of lowbrow novels about a detective named Rooster. He arrives at Ludlow College to do a reading/Q&A, the same school his daughter Katie (Charly Clive) and her husband Archie (Phil Dunster) teach at, and also the same school that has a building named after his ex-wife. Katie’s life is currently in shambles because Archie has left her for a grad student named Sunny (Lauren Tsai) and the whole campus knows about it, so Greg hopes his visit will cheer her up, but things end up going more downhill when it’s revealed Sunny is pregnant. Despite still loving Katie, Archie vows to stay with Sunny and the baby, and in her grief Katie accidentally burns his house down. Ludlow’s fitness-crazed President, Walter Mann (John C. McGinley) is a big fan of Greg’s, so he offers to let Katie stay employed if Greg becomes the college’s writer-in-residence. Greg balks at first, having never attended college himself, but agrees without telling Katie. By the fourth episode, Sunny has taken on Walter as a mentor and dons a swimsuit to join him in one of his patented ice-bath/sauna cleanses. After seeing her slender physique in the tight one-piece, you’ll need to take your own cold plunge!
