Samantha Morton has been sweet and she's been lowdown, but either way she brings to the screen a simple, unmistakable beauty. An actor since age thirteen, the Nottingham, England, native's portrayal of mute laundress Hattie in Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown (1999) snapped co-star Sean Penn's guitar strings and also earned her an Oscar nomination. But it was her role as Iris in the Brit production Under the Skin (1997) that got under the skin. Samantha showed plenty of skin when sweet Iris dressed up as her dead mother and embarked on a series of sordid one-night stands. Samantha hit the big time in Minority Report (2002), where she played a wet and bald clairvoyant. We thought we saw Samantha's most intimate wet and bald part in the movie Code 46 (2003) but it belonged to a body double. What a shame! One thing that's not shameful is Samantha's career, especially since the mid 2000s. She played Myra Hindley in Longford (2006), Deborah Curtis in Control (2007), and Mary, Queen of Scots in Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). Aside from playing real people in biopics, Samantha appeared in Synecdoche, New York (2008), John Carter (2012), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), and The Walking Dead. Of course, she's at her breast when she takes her juicy flesh out in Jesus' Son (1999), Morvern Callar (2002), In America (2002), and Enduring Love (2004). She also got nude on British TV in the '90s but it was done under pressure. So take those scenes with a grain of Morton salt.
