News broke today about the next theme and film data for HBO's hit series The White Lotus. What's the skinny? The resort comedy that rotates exotic and gorgeous locations will be set in the French Riviera. To make matters more bougier and potentially more exciting for lovers of celebrity skin, the film shoot will occur during the Cannes Film Festival - so will the plot of the show!

Why is that so exciting? Let's explain!
Mike White's hit series is set to start production in Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival. It will also incorporate the festival into the plot. This could certainly get meta!

Not only that, but news of the next Cannes Film Festival lineup also broke earlier in the week. With these two bits of information being released in the same week, it's easy to see that rumors will abound regarding who will make cameos and starring roles in the next season. Not only will the series show us gorgeous seaside resorts in Saint-Tropez, but it will also show us gorgeous celebrities.
There are confirmed cast members already. These include Helena Bonham Carter, Sandra Bernhard, Marissa Long, Rosie Perez, and Heather Graham. I do not doubt that there will be many more!

This year's festival will feature the highly anticipated third film by director Jane Schoenbrun called Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. It is set to star Hacks star Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. That's a duo of sexy bisexual actresses that audiences around the world want to see! That film is already one of the big highlights of the festival. Hannah is already in the HBO universe, so she could easily crash the network's sister show...and a little making out with Gillian Anderson would be nice.

Of course, Cannes loves to highlight international and European films. Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski's latest feature, Fatherland, will premiere. The film stars award-winning German actress Sandra Hüller. I'd love to see her stretch her comedic skills to The White Lotus's satire! And I'd love to see her take off her clothes on the sands of the French Riviera. There must be a nude beach somewhere around there.
A film that I'm looking forward to is from the Spanish filmmaking duo known as Los Javis. It's called The Black Ball, and it features Penelope Cruz and Glenn Close. Glenn Close in a Spanish flick? I hope she says "olé" to embracing the Mediterranean heat and ditches her clothes, whether it's in her Spanish film or during Cannes' steamy festival.

Barbra Streisand is set to receive an honorary Palme d'Or. Will the one and only Babs make a cameo on The White Lotus? I wouldn't put it past Mike White to try to get her to appear on the show. As always, we give a stiff pants salute to Barbra's contributions to skinema.
Those are just a few of the stars we can hope to see pull double duty while attending the Cannes Film Festival. Will they check into The White Lotus? I can't wait to find out!
