The daughter of Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, True got her start working with her famous father on his MGM+ series Godfather of Harlem in 2022 during the show’s second season. Playing the role of Sister Sondra/Sandra for four years may seem to have given her the experience she needed to land a leading role in her next series, the HBO Max comedy I Love LA, but in True-th, it’s the part she was born to play! True plays Alani, the nepo baby bestie of creator Rachel Sennott’s character Maia, who spends a portion of the premiere episode soaking up the sun with Odessa A’zion while the two sport teeny bikinis. She's got a few films coming up too, so now we can’t wait to see what she does next - this much is True!
