Not to be confused with the Canadian filmmaker and physician also named Yvette Lu, this Yvette got her start in the theatre world after training at the Stella Adler Studio, NYU, and the Shanghai Theatre Institute. She performed on stage in the first national tour of Hamilton as well as productions at The Muny and Center for Creative Arts in St. Louis. One of Yvette’s first screen roles was as a dancer in the Emmy-winning FX series Fosse/Verdon in 2019, and since then she’s appeared in several shorts, including The Loop (2019), Safe House (2023), Deep Tissue (2024), and Little Fierce Loong (2025). Yvette landed her first big film role in 2025 with the remake of the thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
