She was born in South London, but this blonde bombshell’s career took place mostly in Australia, where she once won the title of Miss Television. Hazel became a regular fixture on the Aussie talk shows in the 1960s and eventually transitioned into acting. She would rack up dozens of guest roles on the small screen and one major recurring role on the 1975 drama Until Tomorrow - and she has the distinction of playing the world's first lesbian character on TV, Marie Crowther on the series Number 96 (1973). But her very first acting role was actually in a movie in 1970 called The Set, which also happens to feature Hazel’s nude debut! Her terrific T’n’A is the main attraction in this black-and-white drama that shows the steamy side of the 60s art society in Sydney. Hazel would add even more titles throughout her career - playwright, composer, newspaper columnist, even owner of a dinner cabaret. In 2005, she was awarded the O.A.M. (Order of Australia Medal) for her services to the entertainment industry, and in 2011 she competed as a singer on Australia’s Got Talent.
