Blood Simple (1984)

The first movie by the now golden boys of filmmaking, Joel and Ethan Coen, was a Texas-set film called Blood Simple (1984). It’s about a guy who knows that his wife is cheating on him, so he hires a dirty detective to kill the adulterous duo. From there the plot goes onto develop a permutation of possibilities, double crossings, and what-ifs that keeps the viewer guessing about what will happen next. The screenplay, cinematography, and directing work are all top of the line for the mid 80s. It’s safe to say that this film is a one of a kind introduction for two very productive titans in the film industry. A young Frances McDormand plays the wife, Abby. There’s no nudity in the movie, but Frances can be caught in a loose and semi-see through nightie that highlights her nips. Blood Simple and poky nipples!
