Every so often a nude scene gets paired with a song that, for better or worse, ends up making it that much more memorable, and Songs in the Key of Nudity is kicking off 2026 with a film celebrating a milestone anniversary this month. On Valentine’s Day ten years ago, audiences got their first real taste of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool (we like to pretend X-Men Origins: Wolverine didn’t happen), but it wasn’t “The Merc with the Mouth” that had ours watering.
That honor goes to Morena Baccarin, who plays Wade Wilson/Deadpool’s girlfriend, Vanessa. The beautiful Brazilian already had a history of nudity by 2016, but her jaw-dropping jugs had everybody’s tongues wagging when they appeared on screen just twenty-four minutes in. Remember, this is still a Marvel film, the first X-Men related adaptation with an R rating in a series not known for nudity.

But the surprising scene is a perfect montage of mingling limbs, all set to the Neil Sedaka classic “Calendar Girl.” As Neil sings through the months of the year, Ryan and Morena hump their way through the holidays, the most graphic being their Valentine’s Day bang sesh. Morena’s breasts and almost beav make an appearance as she rides him in bed, but stay covered by lingerie on Chinese New Year during some doggy-style sex.

We only barely glimpse the BDSM gear Morena’s wearing for International Women’s Day as she pegs him from behind, and after they are shown abstaining for Lent, Morena’s back in a lacy black bra for Halloween.
**** Disregarding everything that gets skipped in between those, the song choice is perfect, especially upon learning the sequence was originally going to be set to Frank Sinatra’s “It Was a Very Good Year,” which would have been waaaaay too slow and melancholy. Sedaka’s light, upbeat sound serves the scene much better. This and other soundtrack selections like the heavy use of George Michael and Wham! set the stage for the amazing and memorable musical moments in the film’s sequels.
