Review

V13 (2025) is about as experimental as films get in this day and age, with director and co-writer Richard Ledes presenting a vision of the friendship between two young men in a Vienna on the brink of World War I, but set in modern times where a pair of actors is rehearsing a stage play of said events. What makes this all remarkable is the friendship between Jewish musician Hugo (Liam Aiken) and vegetarian artist Adolf (Samuel H. Levine)—yes, that one—and the retroactive feelings it stirred up in Hugo as an adult. He writes about his memories from his adult perspective, about what that relationship was like when he discovers what became of his old friend, and it's dramatized through analytical sessions Hugo has with Sigmund Freud (Alan Cumming). It's tough to explain, but it's not hard to get hard to the terrific topless scene where Anya Siberia and Cara Corrigan show off their Viennese delights to an unamused, and decidedly unaroused, Adolf.
