Hey, remember when we all thought technology everywhere would come to a crashing halt and the modern world would be completely destroyed because computers couldn’t tell the difference between 2000 and 1900? Former Saturday Night Live cast member Kyle Mooney sure does, and he and co-writer Evan Winter have revisited that hectic moment in a teen horror comedy that takes place on New Year’s Eve 1999. High schoolers Eli (Jaeden Martell) and Danny (Julian Dennison) decide to forgo their anti-social plans and crash a huge party hosted by popular and sporty teen bully Chris (The Kid Laroi) so Eli can cozy up to his crush Laura (Rachel Zegler). Except in this version of NYE 1999, the minute the clock strikes midnight all electronics become sentient and a robot uprising of Skynet proportions begins. Perhaps they should have stayed home and kept slowly uploading naked pics of real life porn actress Janine Lindemulder so at least they would’ve been attacked by a screen showing some beautiful bare breasts. But because they went out, now their eyes have to watch Lauren Balone and her cleavage and bare midriff get taken out by a tiny robot drill on wheels. So there you have it, the official plan during the robot apocalypse is just to stay in and click through Mr. Skin until the carnage catches up to us because it’s always good to go out doing something you love!
